I started reading and couldn’t stop my mind from at first mumbling, then saying “hey hey are you hearing this”. Then screaming! Male dominance rich and poor, black or white, brown, yellow….is so real. I guess you have to be 75 to have lived it! Is is better, well, only because we fought for every “right” that they “gave” us! I feel like a hedgehog all bristle and no teeth! What ever it’s called women everywhere know it well. You have the ability to explain so many things, but you missed the mark on this one. So when you come on Friday you have to wear a bra the whole time! (Hahahah)
Ahem. Don R., I’m sure you realize by now that I am a fan of your writing, even when I don’t agree, partially because it is interesting, entertaining, & thought-provoking, & also because I’ve been a fan of you, your stage performances, & exuberance since your sophomore year of high school. (Not of the “I’m your #1 fan” Annie Wilkes Misery ilk, so no worries about hobbling. I will not be invading your sphere with a sledge hammer, typewriter, or false caretaking pretenses.)
There are hateful, horribly behaving, deceitful people regardless of gender, or any other way people are categorized. I agree with that wholeheartedly & one of my underlying missions in life is to avoid hateful, horribly behaving, deceitful people whenever possible.
I am not qualified to explain to anyone about “The Patriarchy,” or any other topic really, & it is not in my nature to do so anyway, but I will say if you have not felt the influence or witnessed the harm from the type of men who believe it is their right to keep women submissive, subservient, & silent, simply because they are men, perhaps you have been fortunate in that regard.
All men are not “the patriarchy,” just like all women are not “lying, cheating, bitches.”
One of the reasons the patriarchal phrase is so prevalent currently IMO is because the so called evangelical Christians have inserted themselves into every level of government with the purpose of restoring their “Godly” influence. They proclaim they have a “God Given” agenda that was formulated long ago & they finally found in Trump their useful idiot who will allow them to do what they want as long as they support him.
The Patriarchy is alive & thriving in religious circles even more than when I was a kid growing up in the church, when it was sort of quietly accepted. Now it is front & center & has aligned itself with likeminded men whether they are “elite” politicians, or MAGA men cosplaying Proud Boy rhetoric.
Even though I no longer belong to any religion, I try to keep apprised of their wacko intentions. (Not every Christian is this extreme.) I know this sounds like hogwash & conspiracy, but it is their belief that these are the end times, & they are ready to go to battle for God with arguably the world’s ungodliest man, who once called Second Corinthians, “Two Corinthians,” in an interview, at the helm.
For fun, go check out Christian Lunatic Paula White, the “Senior Advisor To The White House Faith Office” who tries to call on the “angels from Africa” to assist with Trump’s election. (I know she’s a woman, but the patriarchal men in Trump’s circle make allowances for him, because he’s new to the God gig.)

Ah! The plots thicken… In that case the Earth should look like a veritable Garden Of Eden from all the human fertilizer! But alas, unfortunately, as I’ve been repeating to my mother for decades, “I don’t think God works like that. He’s not a Genie.” She still doesn’t believe me.
Our planet probably got the first trial run of humans, which is why I say Earth is like the reality tv show planet. Advanced civilizations are waiting to see when we'll destroy ourselves. Then they can go back to watching The Simpsons.
