Lynch's passing is, sadly, a perfect symbol for the dark, shitty time in which we live.

The gender/sports situation is an important deal in an unimportant facet of life.

The corporate cheese-out on stolen land/whatever is part of an ever-growing universe of bullshit fashioned by the PR squid who drone out meaningless social & political "apologies".

Hey...have a good week and a happy birthday, Bubba D!

Wow, Don R. At the risk of sounding like I'm ridiculously attempting to recover my youth by writing in the vernacular of the young whippersnappers who used the platform formerly known as Twitter back when I Twittered a bit myself, I was today years old when I learned there was such a thing called a land acknowledgment. So I thank you for informing me. For real. Huh. I truly have never heard one IRL.

The closest land acknowledgment I can think of is the vague horror novel trope where inevitably it is at some point not surprisingly revealed that the haunted house is built on an ancient Native American burial ground. Which seems at worst like other-blaming an entire culture for haunting the descendents of the assholes who stole their land, sucked the soil of all of its nutrients leaving it barren for crop-harvesting, & then generations hence built a sub-par Victorian monstrosity out in the sticks that some unsuspecting sap inherits from his or her estranged Great Aunt, & at best extremely lazy plot development.

Once again I am reminded that I am missing nothing by not attending anything referred to as an event.

Happy belated-for-I-know-not-what-the-date-of-your-birth-is Birthday. And may all the observations that flow from your pen or clack from your keyboard remain astute.
