You covered a lot of ground and yet you sounded content? that’s a win win WIN it proves you do not have to check out to be informed, but it also proves, most of us are too lazy to do the work. So is it better to be? Informed? I think so.

Late reply today…

It was hair beautification day, where twice a year I spend four hours in a salon chair inhaling chemicals & chatting about everything & nothing with a captive audience of one, so my hair will look 15 years younger than the rest of me. What sorcery!

And now the fucking news…

[With a sigh of futility]

I try. I do. I think it’s a grownup responsible thing to do, to stay somewhat informed about what’s going on, at least in a summarized way. But it’s too much to contend with some days & very little is ever resolved. In general, I don’t mind listening to multiple viewpoints, but there are now infinite viewpoints within my reach. Resolution is never the goal, but rather who can out-smartass the other for clicks.

We are inundated with constant input, & output, & now we also have to discern which images are actually happening & which are Frankenstein’d, as well as what the motives are of whomever is funding the source of the information? Fuck that. I am working with limited mental bandwidth & what the hell can I really do about most of it anyway?

Here’s my routine…

Scan the headlines

Swear

Read a few articles in full

Wish I hadn’t

Swear

Read a book

Listen to music

Pet the dog

Attempt to pet the cat

Chat with you fine people

To quote a Brian Wilson song…

“All these voices, all these memories, made me feel like stone.

All these people, make me feel so alone.

Lost in the dark, no shades of gray,

Until I found midnight’s another day”

If anyone needs me I’ll be hiding under my desk with the dog.
